Privacy
Almirah keeps your things on your Mac. Here is everything that leaves it.
What stays on your Mac
Everything you put in Almirah. Your papers live in ~/Almirah, an ordinary folder. The locker is an encrypted disk image in ~/Library/Application Support/Almirah, and its key is sealed by your Mac’s Secure Enclave.
Almirah has no account, no analytics and no tracking, and it never uploads your files.
What Almirah sends
- Your licence. When you activate, Almirah sends your licence key and your Mac’s name to Dodo Payments, who handle our sales, so you can tell your Macs apart. About once a week it sends the key and this Mac’s activation number to check the licence is still valid. Deactivating sends the same to free the activation.
- Update checks. Once a day Almirah asks getalmirah.com whether there’s a newer version. The request carries Almirah’s version number and nothing about you or your files.
Like any request on the internet, these come from your IP address.

Writing to us
If you email us, we get your address and what you write, and use it only to reply and to make Almirah better.
